Hi there,
It’s Landon here with Reef Refuge!
Hope your week is off to a good start. We’re still getting the blog all buttoned up, and the kinks ironed out, but it’s coming along quite quickly – we’ll have new content coming out throughout the week.
Make sure to head over to the About section to learn a little bit more about what we’re doing here, and as always you can contact me directly by either commenting below, or via email.
A bit of a personal update on my tank, Saturday I acquired a pair of Dragonfaced Pipefish! After much investigation I’m relatively positive they’re one male and one female. A big goal of mine is to raised up their young, as aquacultured pipefish aren’t readily available. Hopefully, at-least locally, this could lesson the demand for imported specimens.
That’s a long term goal! Haha. Not many people have success with keeping pipefish long term, much less raising up their young, but I’ve been doing a ton of research. So far they’ve been very active, eating a ton, and continue to display paired behavior!
I’ve started hatching some baby brine shrimp this evening, and am in the process of getting my phytoplankton and copepod cultures setup! Currently my tank still has tons of copepods but the pipefish are definitely doing a number on them (they never stop eating!). I’ll update more throughout the week with more pictures/video and setup progression for the planktons and baby shrimp system.
Thanks so much for reading, have a great week, and stay safe out there!
